I got a copy of the japanese Roxy Music book yesterday from Amazon Japan. As expected it's all in japanese. When I saw the contents-page I had a glimpse of hope that it might be in english as well, but unfortunately not. Loads of previously unseen photos mainly from Japan. Extensive discography. Bios of just about everybody who has ever been in the various spin-off bands.

That looks really interesting and at a reasonable price it seems £30+
Pity there isn’t a version for the English market.

I’ve tried numerous times now but can’t seem to get anywhere with the Japanese Amazon to deliver to the UK. Must be doing something wrong. My Amazon UK account is fine but I rarely use it.

I made new account on the japanese Amazon site. I have 4 different Amazon accounts. UK, USA, Germany and Japan. That makes the trick.

Thanks doc, I persevered this time and opened an account.
Works out as £39.55.

Downside is/was my credit card company blocked my card noting unusual activity. I had just done a couple of charity donations and then this purchase so had to clarify transactions. I’m pleased they’re thorough but now not sure if any of the 3 have gone through?

My advice would be do an isolated payment not 3 in a row like me!

Although it’s regarded as bad form to reply to your own posts, just wanted to give an update.

Ordered Saturday afternoon and arrived Wednesday morning via DHL. Quicker than a lot of deliveries here in the UK.

Generally pleased with the content as well as the service, it’s a nice addition to the library.

Excellent photos and many not seen before including many from an early shoot that appears to be the bands HQ in Ladbroke Grove.

Pity I can’t read Japanese, as further to lengthy write-ups on Bryan, Phil and Andy there are pages on other main members namely Graham, Eno, Eddie & Paul plus 36 mini biogs on anyone who played with Roxy from Roger Bunn to Tara Ferry via Chris Laurence who played double bass on just 1 track on Stranded.

Very thorough and although slightly indulgent and extravagant I see more value in this rarity than further vinyl releases that I already own from first time around.

I tried to order this from Amazon Japan and couldn't log in. Eventually, my Japanese friend Yuko got it for me and I paid her via Paypal. Where there's a will...
Lots of great early photos and Japanese graphics on tickets and flyers A fantastic keepsake for 'completists'.

I can also recommend ordering if you are unsure, the UK cost converts to £39.18 and it was a simple process. I joined up to Amazon Japan, ordered the book on a Thursday and it arrived the following Monday via DHL express!

It's a fabulous book and as previously mentioned by Bobby lots of unseen photos and Japanese items of interest.

8-)
