Announced today via emails sent from the Ferry website - the Avalon album is finally being released in Dolby Atmos mixed by the great Bob Clearmountain. A shame as far as I'm concerned that this is a digital only release and no physical product is available at present. Let's hope that changes.

It's a pity that it wont be a physical product. I have the 5.1 surround CD version of this album and it sounds amazing.

I refuse to get sucked into the streaming world, a rip off- to the small time musicians. If this means that I never hear this version then so be it.

I'm sure that Paul at SuperDeluxeEdition.com would be only to pleased to retail this on BluRay if he could get official approval. A number of iconic 80s albums have been successfully sold in this format by him and there are few more deserving of this than Avalon. What a shame.

Something for the nerds but also some interesting snippets from Rhett and Bob

Cher Richard,
A huge merci for sharing this.
It should also be posted on the BF side of this site.
Windswept isn’t a technical person but hearing Rhett and Bob talk about these albums was a huge revelation.
It is of course a testimony as to why there should be a Ferry biography.
If the story behind the making of these albums goes untold by the man himself it will truly be a tragedy.
Salutations a tous,
W2

Merci, Richard!
So interesting to see and hear the men behind so much of BF;s ouevre. Nice to see that they were full of enthusiasm and and admiration for Avalon and Boys & Girls after all these years. Hearing RD describe how BF composed songs and directed musicians was really a gem. I know next to nothing about technical things and digital wonders. I never stream any music. I can't tell the difference of original recordings and remastered and so on, so I guess this Dolby Atmos thing will be an unknown wonder to me. Anyway, thanks.
Salutations à tous!
