It will be interesting to see which label releases these, if they do hopefully come to fruition. Presumably EMI/Virgin as Ferry is with them, the "Daily Mail" best of freebie in 2009 was "copyright Virgin Records Limited", and, if I remember correctly, it was EMI that an alleged deal was made with back in 2005-ish for new studio material when we all got so excited. I assume that, since the prospects of that seem to sadly have long since receded, EMI would welcome a chance to get some back-catalogue revenue out of the band's name and reputation. Considering they have only ever released 8 studio albums in 40 years they have worked their way through Island, EG via Polydor and now Virgin/EMI.
I wonder how many demos survive at all from the 70s of early material? It's hard to see a Beatles-type "Anthology" being authorised if even if does. The impression I always get is that the others would give their blessing to such a release but that Bryan is always the stumbling block with his indecision and his "search for perfection". Or is that just what the press would have us think?
