I'd also like to ask if there are or have ever been any fan magazines specifically related to Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry solo.

I've only recently rediscovered their music because I'm now unemployed due to illness and needed a way to occupy myself. I've been in a lot of pain and any good music helps me to get to sleep at night and/or make it through the day.

I've been disappointed by the lack of good books specifically on Bryan Ferry, especially on his solo career. Ferry seems to be a private man, so unfortunately I don't think he'll be releasing his journals like Brian Eno did. There seems to be better books on Eno, than on Ferry, which is too bad. I love, love Eno, but also love, love Ferry, with and without Roxy. I just finished David Buckley book and hated it. He does not understand, for example, how brilliant Ferry is as a cover artist or why he even covers the songs he covers in the first place. Also, he doesn't bother to translate the foreign language lyrics in "Bittersweet" and "A Song For Europe" or explain why the languages work so well in those songs!

Please tell me there are better books or magazines than that about this brilliant music, please?

Some great links on Wiki (bottom)..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roxy_Music

And Michael Bracewell is an author and a big fan, like ourselves! :)

Brian Eno..

Maybe not much, still some...

There's also Peter York's wide an in-depth review of Bracewell's book called "So different, so appealing" in the Frieze Magazine from March 2008:

I'll have to check out Bracewell's books. I was a little leary of the one of the titles about Roxy Music and fashion because I have found that there are too many discussions of the clothes and not about the lyrics or instrumentation.

I wish I could write a biography about Bryan Ferry, which would include the man own personal views about his music, especially the solo work. It would be called "Judge Not By Appearances, Judge the Heart" because I think too many critics judge him by what he wears and who he goes out with and not on the music.
