Roger, thanks for your list of favourite musicians.

And when you mention wonder drummer Simon Phillips there is a link to my taste of music: After Jeff Porcaro died, Simon was the drummer with American hard rock/jazz rock/soul/pop band Toto. I saw him live several times and even visited his drum work shop in Munich - a really nice and humble man.

When I grew up I loved the Kinks (and I still do), Roxy Music (of course !!!!), Sparks, Cockney Rebel, Split Enz, Toto, Foreigner, Dire Straits, The Police, Genesis, but also country rock from The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow or Suzanne Vega.

In my teens I, of course, loved Abba and Fleetwood Mac, but also American vocal group Manhattan Transfer or British Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

The 80s brought many exciting electronic acts such as Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Tears For Fears, Duran Duran, Prefab Sprout, Deacon Blue, a-ha and so on.

During the Disco phase I was especially into Chic and all they did beside their own band: Sister Sledge, Diana Ross etc. And, of course, Al Jarreau and George Benson as well as British band Shakatak. Hard to believe that such a tricky song like "Street Life" (Randy Crawford/Crusaders) stepped into the charts! Well, HipHop, R'n'B etc. have taken over ...

Of course I love Jazz (the things Robert Palmer, Boz Scaggs etc. did during their jazz period, but also Diana Krall or Jane Monheit). Not to forget Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis and Dean Martin :-)

Italian (Alice and Fabrizio de André), French (Jacques Brel), Spanish, Portuguese (Fado) and Brazilian music (João Gilberto) are always part of my CD menu.

In my later years I watched the careers of R.E.M., Snow Patrol, Travis or Coldplay.

And as I was trained in classical music I love Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Tschaikowsky, Prokofiev, Débussy, Ravel and many more.

That's my favourite music - other than BF/RM ... and it's quite a lot

PS: Sorry, I forgot Davie Bowie, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Manfred Mann, Paul McCartney and and and ...

PPS: David Gilmour is a good guitarist, singer and composer but I never really was into Pink Floyd, sorry ... And of course I loved Queen, but only what they did in the 70s ;)

Yes some nice guitar work on this song and of course Kim Wilde looks great. In those days the Kelly McGillis (Charlotte 'Charlie' Blackwood in Top Gun) hair style was very popular!
