| Post subject: | The insatiable fans of Pink Floyd |
As an average listener of pop and rock in the 70s, Pink Floyd was among the bands I listened to. I bought "Wish You Were Here" the day it was released, no gatefold this time. Great music, but I could do without "Have a Cigar" and "Welcome to The Machine". These days you can find a 12 minutes long live cut on youtube called "Raving and Drooling" from Wembley 1974. It`s very monotonous, and I have to say; very "electronic". It outstays it´s welcome, I must say. Today it finds listeners that wasn`t even born back then. It finally ended up as one of the songs on 1977´s "Animals". When the band finally stopped touring and making records, we got a generation of young sullen mourners that were insatiable. This when the fans who followed them during their active years had long since stopped caring. I guess there`s some conclusion to be drawn here. I`m not sure what that is. For some reason the band is bigger now than in the 70s. |
