Boys and Girls,

Well, I loved every minute and thought it got better and better with each song, the highlights for me were More Than This - you could hear a pin drop, Dream Home - that creeping organ sounded eerie enough to my ears, I've played that song a million times and it felt like I was hearing it for the first time, which is some praise, and you can't say Stronger Through The Years is "Roxy Lite" - it's not one of my faves but man it sounded great, like meeting up with an old girlfriend who's turned from a 6.5 into a perfect ten. ;)

Love to you all.

Exactly my thoughts. MTT (in that wonderful arrangement) and STTY. Seriously good music. We should (& I know we do) feel good that our Bry can still deliver such exceptional stuff: the songs, musically and lyrically, the arrangements, the style, the performance.

Spot on guys. Some very interesting song choices and arrangements (e.g. More than This). It just got better and better, peaking for me with an absolutely stonking Both Ends Burning (you can re-live it at ~1hr 10mins: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... ryan-ferry). Bryan by now on great form - breaking out the harmonica - and the whole band making a very fine sound. I must say I just love this drummer. Boy does she give those drums a beating!

Extremely Discerning Diletantes,
I'm pleased that everybody is pleased but for Windswept after the absolute triumphs that were AEWBF & BFWS, it was all a little after the Lord Mayor's Show.
Happily, our hero brought on the great Chris Spedding who did add some depth to the sound. Hopefully he'll reappear for the remainder of the 'Can't Let Go' tour.
a bien tôt,
Windswept
Ps. If you want a truly great live version of "Both Ends Burning" dig out your copy of the 2001 Roxy reunion DVD.

No disrespect guys, but from your comments I can only assume that you have never seen ROXY in their prime, other than Pianoman :(

I understand that we all have different opinions and there is nothing I would have liked more than to have seen Roxy Music on that stage last night but it wasn't and I accept that.

Me, too, dear Roxy, and I respect Bryan's big load of activities at the age of 69 without any sign of retirement. Moreover, he still has a way with recruiting talented young musicians. But sometimes I am afraid he bites off more than he can chew. In the meantime other pop/rock acts are history (or their back catalogue is touring around without them such as "The Australian Pink Floyd Show" :? )

But Andrew MacKay, Phil Manzanera, Paul Thompson and Brian Eno are still alive and at least partly interested in a Roxy Music reunion!

Sometimes you'd better accept the things you cannot change but at least I hope for an extensive participation of Andy, Phil, Eno & Co. during the sessions for Bryan's new album (to be released in October? - d'après M. Smudge's Spanish information). Some of you will say "dream on, piano man"

Should that come true I am sure that every contributor here from M. Windswept2, Roxy Siren, Smudge to Roxy, Lonely Dreamer, Roger and all the others will gladly enjoy even a few bars of the heavenly oboe sound of chief Metaphor Andy MacKay or some beats of Lindisfarne drummer TGPT 8-)

Well said panioman !
Basically in this day and age I will take anything I can get regarding Roxy/BF. One thing you cannot call Bryan is boring. With new musicians, arrangements etc. it's worth waiting for.
I would love the new arrangement of more the this to be on a CD.
With all his live shows this year (getting on for 40 or more) a compilation CD of all the best live performences wouldn't go amiss.
Like everyone on this forum I wait in hope of something soon.

Well, nothing of the info regarding the new BF album that has leaked out yet, give us reason to hope for such a thing. We`ve heard about his usual gang of session musicains, including that guitarist from the Betê Noir album, plus drummer Cherisse Osei, that`s all.

Cher Louize,
The live album Windswept is praying for should come from AEWBF or BFWS or maybe even a 'Re-Made Re-Modelled' LP comprising material from both concerts.
IMNSHO these are the performances that showcased his new arrangements the best.
The new bar room version of 'More Than This' with strings in Dublin was just peerless and 'Carrickfergus' brought a tear to the eye (even Madame W was moved — it normally takes a Crocodile Birkin to do that).
And as for AEWBF, the whole Tollwood broadcast was just stonking. The versions of 'Hard Rain', 'Crazy Love','Chain Reaction' and 'Move On Up' just have to see the light of day. Not to mention the jazzed up versions of 'NYC' and 'Casanova' and Bryan's Satchmoesque take on 'Reason Or Rhyme' and 'Back To Black'.
All the material is there for AEWBF and, if a live set featuring his best ever post Roxy band, TBFO, doesn't see the light of day it will be a travesty!
Furthermore, if our hero's fabulous Baroque jacket doesn't make it onto an album cover that too would be another travesty!
Consider this to be the start of a petition - Allez mes amis. Un peu de solidarity s'il vous plait!
a bien tôt,
Windswept

Why would you assume that Roger?

Monsieur Windswept I thoroughly agree with you, an album featuring AEWBF would be an excellent idea. I was at the RAH and there didn't seem to be any recording going on, but there was at Shepherds Bush. Did anyone notice anything going on at other venues? I never got to see/hear Tollwood so can't comment. TBFO certainly added weight to many songs so need to be kept on some sort of recording.
Carrickfergus always brings a tear to my eye.
Put my name down on the petition.
