This question to fans was on the BF official facebook page:-

"How many songs do The Bryan Ferry Orchestra have in the Great Gatsby Film?

We will reveal the answer when we can :)"

They have hinted that someone who gave a guess of 14 was the closest so far and along with the press release on the VRM news page it looks like the BFO are going to feature quite a bit throughout the film :)

8-)

Indeedy Roxy. I am looking forward to the movie and the companion jazz soundtrack. This is all a quite wonderful departure for our man.

Whether or not Gatsby The Movie will be a hit/success is still up in the air, but for BF the movie is turning into a big plus and his public profile will be getting a huge boost in the coming weeks. At the core, BF assembled a great ensemble of musicians for the BFO and he is now reaping the benefits...

I like that it's a completely new journey - creatively ( no more layers and layers of sound ) - collaboratively - and for his public profile . He's in with the in crowd and becoming a new sensation in the autumn / winter of his years . Luckily for me , I love " The Jazz Age " so it's all F.A.B. One fear ...hope the film isn't another Baz Lurhman turkey like the dreadful Australia .

My sense is that the movie will be receiving "mixed reviews" and that one of the major reasons its release was delayed is because the studio wasn't happy with how preview audiences reacted to the original "cut."

Who knows how it will be reviewed by the critics? But no doubt the producers are hoping (praying?) that it will find a mass audience that doesn't care what the critics say.

And it will be interesting to see how much BF gets involved in promoting the movie in Europe and the UK... Will he be at the London Premiere???

Cher Gardner,
I couldn't agree with you more. When I heard TJA I knew that "The Taste Tarantula" had captured the zeitgeist and TBFO are just so compelling. Let's hope Lurhman does another "Moulin Rouge" rather than another "Australia" but, in any event, if the trailer is anything to go by, it is going to be visually quite stunning.
Regards,
Windswept.

Though to be honest .. I didn't like Moulin Rouge that much either ! When they burst into song it reminded me of the play bit at the end of Crackerjack when they inserted songs from the top ten ! My fave was Romeo and Juliet . But even if I don't like this Gatsby I still hope lots of people do cause it'd be a nice fresh 4th stage in Bry's career .
