With an estimated budget of $120M Gatsby is a relatively modestly priced "blockbuster" so if it can reach a box office cum of $200M for the combined USA and International market it will be a financial success. And this appears to be feasible number to reach given all the promo-hype it is generating. But if it doesn't generate some big ticket sales in its first week of release it will be perceived as not being a very successful "blockbuster" and this will depress subsequent audience interest.

But for BF the impact of Gatsby can only range from good to GREAT. It offers the BFO tremendous exposure/PR and will spur greater interest in both his summer gigs and the fall tour.

And if you were some billionaire mogul planning to throw a big party this summer wouldn't BF and the BFO be a great investment for creating a Gatsby vibe? BF is sitting pretty me thinks... And good for him.

DCJ, you should be writing for a music site. Bryan indeed is sitting mighty pretty indeed.

His band with Marlei Souza rendidtion of Crazy In Love is absolutely tearing up SC with over 193,730 listens! And it was uploaded only 2 days ago! I can't enough of this tune!

His band simply swings!

He's getting major exposure BIG TIME and will garnish new fans I'm sure!

The movie won't flop. It may be slow to start off with, but will gather pace, me thinks, and that from a film critic of no repute, whatsoever.
Roxy was Ferry's first baby, many years in the planning. This maybe his 2nd. His project has much substance and longevity.

I applaud him, heartily.

I agree the Gatsby won't be a disastrous flop. But here in the States it may well fade quickly if it doesn't get decent word of mouth. People will be drawn to see what all the fuss is about during the first weekend, but after that it could struggle if audiences don't respond positively to the spectacle.

If it wasn't for the BFO connection there would be no way I would be interested in going to see Gatsby in a theater. And while I won't make it a priority to go the first weekend, I might find a way to catch a late afternoon showing later in the month. I don't expect it to be a great movie, but it could be fun.

Here are some reviews of "Gatsby" that may be of interest. They seem generally favorable, but they also (to me) make the movie seem like a rather exhausting experience...

At least in these reviews the music/soundtrack doesn't get much attention.

For what it's worth, here's a less than positive review of G:
