Still no sign of it on radio two/one's playlists anyone playing it?Did get email from Ferry.com on Friday 13th stating that the single was out, but looks like download only,anyone know if it is actually available in physical form? Don't know quite what is going on with this. |

Me neither. Very odd. Looking through the making of the vid was great fun, thanks. Another painting that ran through my mind while watching it.. John W. Waterhouse, Hylas and the Nymphs.. It's in my bathroom (reprod.)

More Waterhouse.. (maybe BF is a fan of him, well so I'm I  )Recognize these? Frankly, look at the faces of Waterhouse nymphs, mermaids and antique features. I can't think of any painter giving som much pure beauty to a womans face than him. So inviting and justified to the model, unless he "fixed them up", in which I doubt..imho.

When I was sixteen I didn't pay much attention to my sisters record "These Foolish Things" which she had. In November 1976 I bought "Viva" and told my sister; Listen to this, this is much better. She told; It's Bryan Ferry! Huh? I bought her "Let's Stick together" for Christmas that year, and I taped it on a cassette-recorder for my own use. Me and a mate went on Interrail-trip to UK in summer of 77 and in Brighton I bought "In Your Mind", and in London, not far from London Palladium where this perticular night the premier on James Bonds "The Spy Who Loved Me" took place. We hoped to get a snap of Roger Moore and Barbara Bach, pulling up in different limmos. I heard "Siren" and bought it in a nearby record-shop the next morning, closer to the L-Palladium. Since I only heard fragments of "IYM", among them, "This is Tomorrow", I found "Tokyo Joe" on a Wimpy Bar (do they still exists?) in Bradford, Lancashire (trains end station those days) I put a coin on the Juke-box to listen to it, I didn't realize that not all punk heads loved that music, and the place was full of them. We grabbed our coke-cans and sneaked out, in our straight jeans, battle jackets, jogging-shoes and sacks on our backs. The bunch in there seemed quite hostile...we didn't catch the code...    and we were apparently fashionable incorrect. :  we later came to know.Just some ol' "Bryan Ferry anecdote" . Those were the days... |

Two weeks after release and still no sign on any playlists, the single is (according to HMV in Hull) download only.What is the situation with this? is anyone from Virgin/EMI plugging this? |

I just checked Amazon.co.uk and the Olympia version of You Can Dance is listed as #25,837 on the MP3 download chart. On Amazon.com it's listed as #17,043 on the MP# download chart. I don't think that translates in to a whole lot of downloads/sales. The promo video on youtube has gotten over 30,000 views which isn't too bad but it has hardly "gone viral." I find that it's not a bad song, but without any chorus or hook it doesn't sustain my interest after about a minute or so. And the vocals are pretty much buried in the mix and (at least for me) hard to decipher. |

Nice sound, like in Avalon (30 years ago !;-) ), but very cold song, without inspiration or sensibility. I listened once to it, but I will not do it twice, I am sure

You Can Dance was played this morning on Swiss radio, World Radio Switzerland. The first time I have heard it played anywhere. Is this the lead up to the release of Olympia? MB |
