Alan: "Will be interesting to see how the album performs in the charts. Should make a dent at least in UK & I guess Germany, where the 'Babylon Berlin' soundtrack reached #22 and was on their album chart for 9 weeks."

Sorry, Alan, not this week. At least not within the top 100 album charts in Germany. But it was album of the week of the (state-owned) radio station "mdr". The "musikexpress" magazine valuated Bitter-Sweet with 4 out of 6 stars and the reviewer was very sympathetic and warm-hearted. Maybe Bryan's back in the German charts next week 8-) .

Well, it was only released last Friday, and the charts are issued on a Friday, so sales won't be included until tomorrow's chart I guess. Will have to wait and see.

Chart update for 3/12/18 has him at 43.

No doubt it will fall a few places before Friday's chart but great to see it there.
I think it is wonderful that both Andy and Bryan are producing projects they love 46 years after 'Roxy Music'.

Adding some perspective given the genre versus a conventional BF release, it's 49 on the official physical chart but, more tellingly, number 1 on the official jazz and blues chart.

More on genres - in America 'Tha Jazz Age' entered the Jazz chart at #1 but failed to crack the Billboard top 200.

No laughing at the back especially from my dear Windswept 2 but my good lady gave me Bitter Sweet as one of my birthday presents today.

Disappeared from the top 100 (not unlike the chart run of TJA) but no. 4 in the jazz and blues chart.

Chers amis!

Bitter Sweet is a masterpiece. Reason or Rhyme & New Town are my favourites.
What a great BF year it was! For me personally, a good concert in Paris and a magic evening in the ancient theater in Athens under the stars.
Hard to understand why many of our friends on this forum are so negative still. Well, it´s not my problem but it makes me wonder. For exemple, if I was a wealthy oligarch I would gladly invite BF and his band to my garden. What´s wrong with that? And is it not good that he has the stamina to take part in all these "proms"? People enjoy to hear Slave to love & Jealous guy and they pay to do so. Anyway, soon it´s over and Bryan can have a well deserved holiday!
On my wish list to Father Christmas; the 12´vinyl BF Bass Ode to Olympia is on top!

Bonne Année et salutations à tous!
