Chers amis,

Quelle surprise!
Overall I´m pleased with the new set list. Is it meant for a new live cd? Great to see that early, noisy RM tracks has been replaced. I´m not superstitious, but let´s thank the great W2 for his prayers!

Wroclaw, on y vas!

Mais oui, pianoman, tu as raison! But it doesn´t mean that one has to like the early period.
For me, RM is almost = BF. AM was important as he introduced the saxophone. I still like his playing but surely I prefer to see Jorja on stage. To tell the truth, the other members of RM have little significance for me. BF has been surrounded by great musicians during his whole career. Chris Spedding is one of them and I much prefer his playing style to the one of PM.
This year I have mostly listened to the masterpiece Bitter Sweet. As the great pianoman, I´ll turn 60 this year. BF;s music has been the soundtrack to my life. Mamouna, Bête Noir, Olympia are the three albums that have meant most to me. As for RM, I´ll choose Avalon, Flesh+Blood and Stranded.

Salutations à tous!

If the set list remains like this for the RAH I'll be very pleased indeed.

So I see, I can't turn you into a feather boa lover, Oberon  .

I was socialised with music from Bach to The Beatles but early Roxy were my musical Bible. Nevertheless I stayed a fan of Roxy, Bryan, Andy, Phil and Paul. All Roxy was good Roxy except from Cry Cry Cry, Rain Rain Rain etc. All Ferry was good Ferry except from Re-Make/Re-Model (solo version), some Boys & Girls + some Mamouna tracks (sorry) and, of course, Taxi. What could he have recorded in the 90s if he hadn't lost his musical thread ... From Olympia I do especially like Song To The Siren + No Face/No Name/No Number. And his last pop album, Avonmore 8-) . Will he ever do something similar again in his life? The Jazz Age has a nice art work but that's it. And: After Bitter Sweet he should go back to his rock roots.

Now that we were born in the same year we should endure that we haven't exactly got the same kind of Roxy/Ferry taste, Oberon ;) .

I haven't got a ticket for Munich this year but I'm sure it will be a great show with some seldom played songs. To those VRM friends who go to Bryan: Have lots of fun 8-) . -p-

Cher pianoman,

Our different views only shows how talented our hero is. Avonmore, the pop album as you call it, gave me mixed emotions to be honest. Some great melodies, like Loop de li, Midnight train, One night stand, but the lyrics... suitable for an Elton John or worse. Send in the clowns is in my ears the worst cover he ever did, of course beside the horrible Goodnight Irene. And the gloomy cover let me down. Yes, the covers were better during the Roxy era! But so what? Here we are with the splendid album Bitter Sweet and a new set list. Pity that you can´t attend a show-
Bonne soirée à tous! Hope someone in Holland will write about the concerts there.

I think the silent majority shares your view, Oberon. However, there is quite som difference between late Roxy and Bryan solo. Love of one part doesn`t neccessarily lead to the other. Aside from that, did you see how similar in groove the new opener "Flesh and Blood" is to the previous one, "The Main Thing"? -Hmm...

Fidele Ferryistas,

It is fun to see those youngsters, Oberon & Pianoman duelling over the best Ferry era.

Windswept lui-meme maintains the mantra that ‘All Ferry Is Good Ferry’ sauf IYLSE.

Forensic analysis of the Groningen set list reveals the following sources:

1982 Avalon x 6
1980 Flesh & Blood x 3
1994 Mamouna x 1
1974 Country Life x3
1985 Boys & Girls x3
1979 Manifesto x 1
2007 Dylanesque x 1
1977 In Your Mind x 1
1973 These Foolish Things x 1
1975 Sirens x2
1981 Jealous Guy.
1976 Let’s Stick Together x 1

All styles are definitely served here but it is interesting that there is only one song from this century.

That withstanding it is a veritable smorgasbord of style and substance and it’s great to see F&B back in the mix.

As is his want, W2 has road tested this show in a play list and it works brilliantly. Windswept is having some trouble with his dancing but is hoping that intense stretching and WD40 on his joints will help
prepare him for the gig.

Excitement for TRAH is palpable and Windswept would like to thank the Ferry Gods and all those in the environs of Penshaw Monument - particularly Rendezvous’ mam for making this happen.

Salutations a tous (meme Le jardiniere)

W2

Six songs from ‘Avalon’ certainly justifies the North American tour being promoted as that. I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘The Main Thing’ replaces ‘Flesh +’Blood’ at some stage.
