The 'AIWIY' black t-shirt and jeans, followed by the 'Siren' GI uniform.
Anyone can wear a suit, but like Marilyn Monroe, Ferry could wear a burlap sack and still look like the bear on the mint!

Hipsters,

W2 has never really considered our hero a follower of fashion per se.

He has always really been the master of juxtaposing his style to fit the music and coming up with a definitive look.

An incomplete analysis could read as follows :

1972 - Roxy Music - ‘The Vulcan Look’

1973 - These Foolish Things - ‘The James Dean Look’

1974 - Another Time, Another Place - ‘The Bogart Look’

1975 - Siren - ‘The GI Look’

1978 - The Bride Stripped Bare - ‘The Clark Gable Look’

These, together with the ill fated ‘Bolero Look’ were Ferry’s defining styles that have been refined over time into today’s constant ‘Cary Grant’ look.

Ferry once famously questioned; “Why should I ruin my mood by putting on an ugly suit ?” He’s right, why should he? Why should any of us for that matter ?

Back in the day you’d never rock up to a Ferry show in a shell suit.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said today. This year at TRAH, W2 saw a young man enter in a sweaty ‘T’, a pair of shorts and work boots. He thought he’d come to unblock the toilets only to see him latter in the auditorium!

Things aren’t what they used to be but happily, ‘The Taste Tarantula ‘ lives on and doesn’t drop his standards (apart from the Humperdinck fiasco that we should put behind us ).

Salutations,

W2
