Best dressed man this evening was undoubdetly EJ.

Embarrasing was the lack of chemistry between AM/PM/BF on the one hand and EJ on the other (red carpet and speech).

That said, I really liked their performance. For this occasion. But a Roxy reunion??? Watching those ol' chaps, I'll hope and pray it won't happen. Roxy is history. Over and out...

Here's a clip of BF on CBS This Morning getting some national exposure in the USA.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/roxy-music ... ng-legacy/

It's ostensibly about Roxy and its induction in the RRHOF, but BF gets the solo spotlight (yet again, pit ponies and working class roots...). The original band members get acknowledged (especially Eno) but I don't think I heard any mention of Eddie Jobson.

Watching this interview I don't get a sense that there was much interaction between BF and PM, AM, and EJ as the RRHOF hoopla played out over the past few days...

Of course, the most remarkable aspect of the RRHOF reunion was the involvement of EJ after a hiatus of 43 years. In this context, it would have been nice if BF could have offered some acknowledgement of EJ's violin solo on OOTB - just a simple shout-out like "on violin, Eddie Jobson!" But no, there was nothing...

Beyond rehearsals, did the core four spend any time together in NYC? PM and AM certainly are on good terms, but did they spend any time with EJ? Just wondering...

Have to disagree here; thought the Emperor's suit was brilliant. Grave but approachable as always, kept expecting him to ask why my dissertation was late

I thought they all did brilliantly and the supporting cast were very respectful. EJ's violin was spot on and even Ferry's voice was better than I'd expected!

Oh well, that's it then, goodbye my favourite band of forty-seven years,
and thank you for shaping my life.

I watched the induction acceptance speech and Bryan did thank as many people as he could. He's holding the trophy while making the speech and when he finished he hands it over to Andy. It looks, (to me anyway) like Andy was meant to say a few words, but they were ushered off the stage before he had a chance.

I thought the set was well done. Back up band were good. Bryan's voice was a little weak, but for the most part better than I expected.

As I anticipated in another post EJ left the stage for More than This & Avalon, but returned for Editions of You.

I just watch a clip of the "finale" song where they brought out Brian May to accompany Ian Hunter in a version of All the Young Dudes. Not bad...

PM was onstage (as the only rep of Roxy) singing background next to Little Steven (of the E Street Band). A bit strange methinks...

It would have been WAAAAY COOL if they had also done a rendition of Mott's "All the Way to Memphis" which featured a certain Andy Mackay on tenor sax!!! But nobody ask me for any input on such a weighty issue...

I was there last night. Not knowing at what point in the show Roxy Music were scheduled, I was pleasantly surprised that they appeared relatively early.
Bryan sounded better than I expected, and I was surprised that only Bryan spoke.
Comparatively, only two guys from Radiohead showed, and I don't recall anyone from The Cure besides Robert Smith speaking.
Roxy's performance was wonderfully cool and quite emotional for me.

Never say never.

@Sentimental Fool:

you say : Roxy is history. Over and out...

I totally agree. And Bryan is also history. He has not realized it yet.

Roxy Music is over . Agreed. Good that they got this award and did the show as a finale but I would not want to see another reunion.
As for Ferry, I’ll remain hopeful he has another album in him. Bitter-Sweet is good. Maybe a blues album?

Hipsters,

Pour etre honnete, W2 is not a huge fan of these industry award events.

They are self serving and have a knack of making the participants look stupid. This one appeared to be a case in point.

There is one exception. The Hollywood walk of fame being it.The thing is so intrinsically L.A., it works.

That said, if you feel that you must participate, the late great Leonard Cohen showed how to handle it a few years ago. He was inducted by Lou Reed and as these things go, it was a class act.

This wasn’t. They were introduced by the Durans who’s speech was incoherent and indecipherable. The Duranees also looked like they’d just fallen out of a ‘80s Burton’s window.

Then three of the boys arrived. Ferry said a lot of very gracious thank you’s. Phil looked like he was waiting for his turn which never came and Andy looked like he didn’t know where he was.

There then came the music with the shadow band - again, not their finest set.

Sartorially the thing was also bizarre. For years our hero had the perennial question of what does the mature rocker wear licked.

His answer was clear, classic with a twist and he did it with such aplomb. Nobody rocked an A&S suit like our hero but now, for some bizarre reason he insists on sporting this Englebert Humperdinck rig that would look more at home in an ‘Only Way Is Essex’ wedding.

Sadly, none of this represented what was Roxy Music.

A huge part of Roxy’s and Ferry’s appeal was that they lived life and performed in a noir shadow. They were the avant-garde of modern music. Every track was a symphony for people who liked to live life their way. This overt commercialism simply isn’t for them or for W2.

Ironically, Eno and Paul turned out to be the smart ones.

Windswept would have preferred Ferry to stay in the Studio One bunker and rehearse a set list with TBFO.

Au fin de count, surely even the most ardent feather boa lover wouldn’t wish for a Roxy reunion after this ?

Sometimes the best ‘Hall Of Fame’ is the memories of those fabulous times. Roxy will forever live in Windswept’s.

Salutations,

W2.

It's a shame people are focussing on the negatives.

I have to say as a long time fan of Roxy I am immensely proud of this accolade for the band which is long overdue and well deserved by all.

As a band that has influenced so many other bands of different genres over a long period of time they fully deserve their place in the Hall of Fame.

Let's be grateful that the members of the band are still healthy enough to perform live and still look good doing so.

Well done to them.
