Well said DCJ, Indeed. I wonder how many here have bought Olympia. If you haven't, go get it! Thanks.

Well, since my first suggestion of a new Roxy studio album seems to be a non starter, can I suggest that whoever is responsible gets their finger out and organises the release of the FYP tour CD/DVD- it's been a year since the tour, there can't be any reason to delay release any longer surely.
And if BF really wants other ideas on what to record next, the Leonard Cohen suggestion is interesting, but how about an album of Beatles covers? BF's version of "She's leaving home" on the old "All This and World War II" soundtrack was one of the highlights of that album and a whole set of Beatles covers- Get Back, Let It Be, Yesterday, Something, etc- could be worthwhile.

To be honest, I think he's struggling to write anything these days. The well could be dry. Just look at the facts. Frantic came out in 2002. A load of songs were old unreleased songs, a load were written by some other guys, a load were co-written with some other guys and a few were self-penned. Dylanesque was released in 2007,none of which was self-penned. Olympia, released in 2010,featured some old unreleased songs, 6 co-writes, 4 were written by some other guys and only 2 were written solely by Bryan. So,be patient, we may have to put up with cover versions for a while before something original comes up.

Maybe I have got this wrong but, apart from the the initial outpouring of the early days and one or two purple patches since, hasn't this generally been the case?
That's one reason why the Roxy Unplugged (or, perhaps more palatably for BF, the Ferry Unplugged) option could be attractive to him. The songs are already written -plus he ends up with the lion's share of the writer's royalties.
Time stands still for no man and Bryan's voice has only so many years left in it. This is an obvious piece of unfinished business for him. it makes commercial sense, and it might just attract the interest of a wider audience than us hard core guys. Let's face it, we would buy whatever he released so it is the slightly more detached audience that he needs to think about. Roxy still carry a lot of kudos out there (even amongst my kids' generation although that doesn't necessarily convert into hard sales at that level).
The only other idea that I have is that he starts attacking music from the past 30 years - which he has shied away from thus far. It worked for Johnny Cash , after all. He covered a lot more contemporary stuff on his last few albums, he did them with style and distinction, and these definitely appealed to a wider / younger audience. I don't see why Bryan couldn't do the same.

I feel that Ferry unplugged would work better than Roxy unplugged. The official Roxy website seems to have bitten the dust. "www.roxymusic.co.uk is unavailable or may not exist"

It may well be a long long long time before any new Roxy material ever gets a public release, but I think the Roxy Music website will be revived in order to help promote the release of the Special Super-duper Version of The First Roxy Music Album. BF may not wish to involve himself with Andy and Phil in the here-and-now, but he is the Master of the Repackaged Catalog (who does it better? And more often?).
I suspect that Roxy website was taken down so that it can be redesigned in order to promote the upcoming re-re-re-release of the first album. And perhaps also releases related to the FYP tour.
The revised website won't be anymore interesting then the previous version, but it will be probably serve as a platform for some videos, etc.
