I spoke to Rhett Davies and a then band member backstage after the Liverpool Roxy show which (having looked it up) was July 2005, they were both genuinely very excited and said they had recorded some great stuff (I'm sure it was more than 10 tracks) and that they were hoping to go back in the studio and have it all finished by that Christmas (2006) or early in the new year.
Don't forget also that both the Pink and Orange Roxy 'Remix projects' were released by Virgin in 2006 and press releases for both of those mentioned the new upcoming Roxy Music album!
And of course the little teaser on the 'More Than This' DVD with footage of the band with Eno in the studio and that little snippet of a new Roxy track, sounded great to me!

At J.O.B :
there was an interview with Guy Pratt 24. January 2006 on Viva Roxy Music. If im right ( ? ) he said there something about the forthcoming Roxy album. The developement of the album must have been a that date already well advanced.
Is it possible to set this interview again ?
Thanks.

Here is an interesting excerpt from a Feb 2011 interview in Uncut about recordings for the "new Roxy album":
There were 6 or 7 instrumental tracks composed by the various members (AM, PM and BE), which they worked on democratically. There were also songs brought to the studio by Ferry, which weren't so popular, some of which have ended up on Olympia. The 2006 sessions ended with agreement that Ferry would write some lyrics for the instrumentals. Five years on they are still waiting. Ferry doubts he'll ever do it. "There is a slow track which is quite promising," he concedes, but he doesn't sound riveted. He started losing interest in the project when BE and PM talked to journalists about it. The new album was quietly shelved. "It could have been an interesting album," AM believes. "A few of the tracks had the makings of good songs. But who knows? We may never have finished it even if we'd thrown ourselves at it." PM is diplomatic: "It's our fault," he says. We didn't give Bryan the music to stimulate him enough to finish the songs."
In conclusion there were substantial musical differences (i.e. different views in the band as to what the 2006 Roxy sound should be), and Ferry didn't think the music being contributed by the other band members was strong enough to make a Roxy album. End of story I think (though you never know for sure with Ferry: he might just revisit it at some point!).

The 9th album will happen at or around the time that Scotland win the World Cup !
Even if the guys who once formed Roxy got together and created a new album, this is another time and another place - so it just wouldn't be a Roxy Music album.

Re India's post above re a 2011 Uncut article: By 2011 there was a lot of spinning and shucking and jiving by BF about the 2005/06 Roxy recordings. Take it all with a big grain of salt.

If anything the 2011 Uncut article seemed to have an anti-Ferry (and pro the rest of the band) angle. For example the Uncut writer said how much he liked the early Roxy stuff and hated Avalon. And PM is described as being diplomatic when referring to the 9th album he says: "It's our fault. We didn't give Bryan the music to stimulate him enough to finish the songs." Why is this necessary being diplomatic? It might just be a statement of fact.
