Thank you for the links, Richard. But what can I expect from an updated or overseen artwork as a fan who already owns everything Bryan has ever published? Puzzling ...

This will satisfy some of us who want to add the vinyl issues to their collections, but others will be wondering when will we hear about the latest music, specifically the promised 2nd album with Amelia Barrett’s input..

Overseen updated artwork ....Hmmm.. The only way that would work for me would be a complete redesign of each album - Along with Dylanesque these album covers were big disappointments for me - The use of old photographs - colour scheme - choice of font .... immediately a turn off... Especially Avonmore - the photograph which I guess was circa 1974 seemed ridiculous. Also, for me, there are only two songs between the both of them that I ever listen to .. 'I Thought' and 'Johny and Mary'.

I wonder whether Dylanesque and Bete Noire will now get a re-
-issue on coloured vinyl . As I’ve indicated before this re-issue campaign is very patchy in its execution.
After some procrastination , I bought the Olympia and As Time Goes by re- issues and I’m tempted buy Frantic next month - the record I already own came in a simple black inner sleeve, and that blue vinyl is mesmerising.
Wiser heads prevail on this forum.

I gave my new colour copies of Olympia and As Time Goes By a first spin last night , in honour of the birthday.
There were a few clicks and bumps on both pressings. With new vinyl these days I don’t think you can always be confident that they will be issue-free.
I await my colour copies of Frantic and Avonmore with minor trepidation.

So, Bete Noire and Dylanesque get the coloured vinyl and accompanying CD re-issues.
The Bete Noire CD comes with an extra disc incorporating the remixes from the album’s singles and a Johnson Somerset remix of The Right Stuff which may have been issued last year on Record Store Day. The promo material says it’s previously unreleased.
Regardless, I’ve been hooked to look at purchasing these albums . Again. Do I need help? Counselling? My originals are currently lodged in storage.

And where, might I ask, is the promised second album of material with Amelia Barratt, which we were told would be released this year?

I recently listened again to Horoscope and the Sketches disc that came with the Mamouna reissue two years ago. Hadn't played it for a while but enjoyed both discs. I know Horoscope is something of a one-off in the Ferry canon in terms of being a complete unreleased album but a Sketches type release of demos and early versions of tracks from Boys and Girls and Bete Noire would be a fascinating listen, given how long those albums were being worked on. And the Mamouna package was fairly reasonably priced too.

It might only be a subtle difference, but I like the alternative artwork for 'Dylanesque'. And bringing the various Bete Noire mixes etc together on a complementary second CD makes this an attractive release.

Amid all these reissues, it's easy to lose sight of a new edition of 'Boys and Girls' those nice people at SDE Shop are currently taking preorders for. Details at
