Bryan Ferry first rose to fame in the early 1970s as singer, songwriter and designer for pioneering pop group Roxy Music. The band has since become icons for revolutionizing and blurring the boundaries of rock music with art. Utilizing a touch of glamour, trauma, and wild fearless experimentation with both sonic and visual elements, Roxy Music -- Ferry, keyboardist Brian Eno, reedman Andy MacKay, guitarist Phil Manzanera, drummer Paul Thompson and bassist Rik Kenton – was hailed as one of the most seminal pop groups in the ‘70s. Songs like "For Your Pleasure" and "Virginia Plain" were a provocative brew of pop-art and sci-fi, and stunned the pop charts from their dreary slumber.
Roxy Music's final album, Avalon, set the grounds for Ferry’s subsequent solo recordings, which were full of richly layered tracks like "Boys and Girls," "Mamouna"
and "Taxi." After nearly three decades, Ferry continues to infuse and improve numerous musical genres. His last album, Frantic, was interrupted by Roxy Music’s reunion tour last year. That turned out to be a great experience, as it gave him valuable enforced time away from the album.
