Barry Bongiovi
Barry Bongiovi was an engineer on Roxy Music's Avalon album for the sessions at Power Station New York
He also was assistant engineer on the Andy Mackay's Rock Follies album.
He is credited on many albums including, Duncan Dhu, The Exploited, Eno Another Green World (1975) Assistant Engineer, Brian Eno Ambient 4: On Land (1982) Engineer
Bongiovi’s career started as a Production Assistant at Power Station
Studios in 1980, progressing to become an Assistant Engineer, Studio
Manager, and ultimately General Manager in 1987. During his time as GM,
he expanded from managing the studio's daily operations to marketing the
facility to the highest profile clients and projects passing through
New York.
In 1992, Bongiovi joined Sony Classical Productions as Studio Operations
Manager. Mandated to organize and expand this rapidly growing division
of Sony Music Group, his position gave him the opportunity to work at a
major record label, exposing him to the latest recording and mastering
technologies. He also marketed the division beyond the classical artists
in the label's roster to attract major players in pop, jazz.
A short stint in Europe exposed Bongiovi to the development of
multimedia facilities, with music, film, and video all incorporated in
one organization. He supervised developing facility design, while
structuring the management personnel necessary to achieve the goals of
the business plan.
Returning to New York to become the Studio Manager at The Hit Factory
NY, adding film score recording to his resume. Moving to Right Track
Recording in 1995, he supervised the design, construction and operation
of a recording environment with the versatility to record full
orchestras for film scores, classical recording, Broadway play scores,
animation dialog recording and to carry out film/video commercial
shoots. During his 10 year tenure at Right Track Recording, Bongiovi
turned the organization into one of the busiest and most popular
recording studios in the city.
In recent years, Bongiovi has focused his experience toward consulting
on various projects. These projects range from start up and operational
development to marketing strategies of contemporary media facilities
here and abroad. He currently has been a marketing and facilities
operations consultant to NY’s magnificent Jungle City Studios.
