New York, NY – On March 8th, BasicLux Records presents Roxy Re-Modeled, the first-ever dance music tribute album to legendary rock band Roxy Music. Roxy Music’s impact has been felt over multiple genres and is cited by many critically acclaimed acts as a great source of their inspiration. Roxy Re-Modeled pays tribute to Roxy Music with exciting dance floor friendly interpretations of some of the bands most well-known tracks. It will make you move to Roxy Music in a whole new way!

Roxy Music is a name that comes up as one of the major influences of the last 35 years not only because of its musical output, but also because of the sum of its parts. Roxy Music’s line-up changed over the years, but it’s two most famous musicians were charismatic front man Brian Ferry and for a short time, acclaimed producer / composer Brian Eno. The band’s style was hard to pinpoint because they dressed the glam rock part, but musically went on to produce music that would be a major influence to the evolution of both punk music and synthpop. Roxy Music’s self-titled debut landed in 1972, but it was 1976’s "Love Is The Drug" that brought the band major success in America. The band continued to find success with each release before disbanding after the release of 1982’s classic Avalon.

Matching Roxy’s diversity on Roxy Remodeled is a wealth of internationally known artists that finely and respectfully pay tribute to the band. This isn’t solely a dance record, but rather a collection of songs reworked by artists who have an affinity for producing electronic music. Each track is a distinct work that reflects the artist’s individual interpretation and respect for the original. This results in a sound that is not entirely unified; but rather it provides the CD an unpredictability and quality rarely seen in projects of this ilk.

The CD starts out with Madison Park’s soulful and seductive remake of “Same Old Scene.” The lyric “Nothing Lasts Forever” floats by on a cloud and reminds you how timeless music can be. The pace then picks up just a notch with a gorgeous remake of one of Roxy’s biggest hits, “Love is The Drug.” With an infectious chorus this one should be huge once again! Next, NYC’s Perfect Project does a remarkable job of taking the rock out of “Angel Eyes,’ transforming it into downbeat splendor; while Romanian pop group Sunday People bring a similar style to that of Zero 7 in their transformation of “Avalon.” With “Don’t Stop The Dance,” Barcelona’s Biter MC lays down a minimal layer of house beats for Italian Pop Chanteuse Elena DeLucca to do her beautiful work. We reach the centerpiece with Madison Park VS Lenny B’s mind-blowing remix of Roxy Music’s biggest hit, “More Than This.” This track is on the money and shows why Madison Park consistently lands near the top of the Billboard’s Hot Dance Music and Club Play Chart.

Abstract Foundation’s airy guitar-funk remake of “Wildcat’s Days opens the second half of the disc and leads into J.A.C.E.s energetic house take on Bryan Ferry’s hit “Kiss and Tell.” The chorus is pure bliss! Next, Stormchild brings instrumental electro funk to “Thru An Angels Eyes,” while Goldlust adds a nice layer of brokenbeat and hazy vocals to Beauty Queen. Abstract Foundation then goes more of the traditional pop route for a remake of “Slave For Love” before Madison park teams up with GrooveOholics for the late night trip through “You Do Something To Me.” The journey ends in sublime fashion with the epic dance floor pop of “Ten Cents a Dance.” The Israeli duo, Wilson, bring Roxy Music to the peak time!

About BasicLUX:
BasicLUX Records was founded in 2002 by DeAnna and James Cool to increase the reach of the music they loved, as well as create (they’re also Madison Park). From the beginning, the labels mission has been to showcase great songwriting and production in the deep house, nu-jazz world, by offering a refined and sophisticated sound that they like to call new style lounge.

"New Style Lounge" is a term for an amalgamation of musical styles that combines the ethic of the original "Lounge Music" while incorporating complimentary contemporary elements such as nu-jazz, deep house, downtempo and neo soul. The artists of New Sound Theory (the label’s flagship compilation series), like their predecessors, are breaking new ground using studio experimentation & technology while continuing to incorporate live elements, carrying the torch forward while adding unique twists -- assuring that New Style Lounge will always be fresh and pertinent.

BasicLUX has a clear mission of introducing new material, avoiding the recycling of tracks (as so many compilations seem to do today). Therefore, in addition to offering new music from some of the existing leaders in this genre, BasicLUX also actively seeks out the more underground and emerging artists. The listener can always count on something fresh and new as that is our primary goal.
