'Breakfast On Pluto' - - Press Release
16 March 2005

Pathé Pictures International, Parallel Films and Number 9 Films announced today that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all rights to North America, Latin America, Germany and South Africa for "Breakfast on Pluto," a vibrant new film from award-winning director Neil Jordan ("The Crying Game," "Interview with the Vampire"). The film stars Cillian Murphy (upcoming "Batman Begins"), Stephen Rea, Brendan Gleeson and Bryan Ferry.

Set in the 1970's, "Breakfast on Pluto" follows the exploits of Patrick Braden (Murphy), an endearing, but deceptively tough young man. Abandoned as a baby in his small Irish hometown and aware from a very early age that he is different, Patrick survives this harsh environment with the aid of his wit and charm, plus a sweet refusal to let anyone and anything change who he is.

Jordan weaves a wonderfully surreal and magical tale to bring us this funny, moving and poignant rites of passage account of a young man enduring the trials and tribulations he faces with a smile and unwavering faith in the inherent goodness in us all.

A joint statement from Sony Pictures Classics says, "We have been pursuing 'Breakfast on Pluto' from the moment we read it over three years ago. It is one of those rare scripts - bold and fresh and richly picaresque. We as a team have wanted to release a Neil Jordan movie ever since œCompany of Wolves¹ over 20 years ago. It is great to be at last working with him on a film of such great potential for success, as well as his producer Alan Moloney, and our friends at Pathé UK."

Francois Ivernel, managing director of Pathé-UK, follows, "We have enormous respect and admiration for the people at Sony Classics. We believe they are the best distributors to bring 'Breakfast on Pluto' to the US and we hope this will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship."

Alan Moloney adds, "Both Neil and I are delighted with this arrangement with Sony Pictures Classics. They are ideally placed to bring this extraordinary film to the widest possible audience."

Pathé Distribution will distribute the film in the UK and France and Pathé Pictures International handles worldwide sales
